Just learned we have two more cases of the virus and I told my five children, “I’m in the right place during this tragic time. This Gurwin environment is a blessing for my material and spiritual needs.” That said, I will tell you how I have lived here for over two and a half years.
When I was applying for a residence at Gurwin, they asked me what I desired. I replied, “I wish to be part of the Gurwin family and live as an ascetic.”
I told Staci Rosenberg, “I respect the Jewish/Kosher environment. Over many years, I have had Jewish business partners and Jewish-American customers who respected me for my values and for my service to them and did not discriminate.”
What brings me happiness and brings joy and contentment is my living an ascetic lifestyle while being with God ’24/7′.
My suite of three rooms, which I refer to as my ‘hermitage’, is my world of stillness and grace. I read scripture and pray every morning from 5AM until 11AM, and in this period, I drink my juice and coffee prior to having breakfast. I have a six-day physical discipline of stretch and weight exercises, plus riding my exercise bike.
At this time, I allow the world to enter and read the news, emails, and text messages.
After responding, I go outside to the patio for two hours, weather permitting. I am sociable and can relate to all kinds of conversations, assuming they can understand my slurring speech.
I show respect and love towards the entire staff and all in my presence are equal. I never complain and always show them appreciation.
I do not require lunch and seek with an appetite my dinner meal.
After dinner at 5PM, I prepare for an evening rest, and in my pajamas watch the news and one ‘Pureflix’ movie. By 9PM, I’m ready to pray or just contemplate on my life experiences and with contentment and a smile I go to my bed to sleep.
I had a wonderful, blessed life with my wife, children, friends, and my strong relationship with my creator. I’m content knowing I’m in my late fall/winter of life’s journey, and look forward to the next stage in my life’s journey.
