Sadly we learned recently that Matushka Janet Mihalick, our parish’s former choir director and the wife of +Fr. Michael (who served as Rector of our parish from 1984 to 2001) is ill with cancer.
Their daughter, Sasha, who grew up in our parish, writes to say that in her illness, Matushka Janet has financial needs that will not easily be met. Without any doubt, the whole Mihalick family gave of themselves wholeheartedly to the health and welfare of our parish over the 19 years that Fr. Michael served as pastor and thereafter, when Janet continued to serve as choir director. With this in mind, it would be wonderful if our parish would be able to support Matushka Janet in her hour of need. A link to a GoFundMe page established by Sasha is attached, and if our parishioners would contribute, it would be a fitting way of saying “thank you” to the Mihalicks for their many years of service. Quite literally, the parish would not be what it is today were it not for their sacrifices and for the conviction and vision with which they ministered here.
From Sasha: “My mom has a big heart and has spent much of her life serving others. She served as Choir Director alongside my father at several parishes in Pennsylvania and New York. When my father was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, she spent years by his side as his primary caregiver. After he passed away she moved to Pittsburgh to be closer to me, my husband, and daughter. She has always put others first and now it’s time to take care of her. We are fortunate to live close to each other and we are able help with her daily needs. But I need your help! Please keep her in your prayers, and consider making a donation. It would mean the world to me if she could be given peace of mind from her medical bills, and any other needs. Let’s help her Fight Cancer! Thank you all!”
